Dr. Andrea Evans

Andrea is a general pediatrician at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) and an epidemiologist at the School of Epidemiology and Public Health at the University of Ottawa. Her research focuses on child welfare and health disparities and she is dedicated to improving health outcomes for pediatric populations impacted by social determinants of health through policy-focused research. Through her work, Dr. Evans uses participatory research principles to authentically work with people with lived experience and communities. Through her experience as a pediatrician with children and youth receiving child welfare services, her personal experience, and her background in epidemiology, she is focused on improving the health and well-being of children receiving child welfare services and foster children.

Dr. Ashley Quinn

Ashley is a social worker, and assistant professor at the University of Toronto Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work.

Dr. Quinn is director of relational practice for CanFos. Relational practice is the principle of involving people in research in a fair, authentic, reciprocal, and respectful way. By including people who use and are affected by research results in the research process, the connections between research and communities are deepened.

Dr. Nicole Racine

Dr. Nicole Racine is a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor in the School of Psychology at the University of Ottawa, Canada.

Amrin Ahmed

Amrin is a Research Associate for the CanFos Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. She recently received her MSc in Epidemiology from the University of Ottawa. Her research interests focus on children’s health, health equity, and the impacts of environmental and social factors on vulnerable populations. Amrin is experienced in epidemiologic analyses and is passionate about using research to inform policy and improve health outcomes. In her free time, Amrin enjoys staying active, traveling, reading, and spending time with loved ones.

Kamya Singh

Kamya is an MSc student in Epidemiology and Applied Health Research at the University of Ottawa. She completed her HBSc in Life Sciences at the University of Toronto, and her research interests centre on youth mental health and closing gaps in access to care for underserved communities. Kamya previously worked as a Research Assistant on the Spit for Science study at SickKids, where she worked directly with children and families on a large population-based youth mental health study. Outside of research, she loves to travel and is always looking for new music to listen to.

Meena Ibrahim

Meena is a first-year Honours Health Sciences student in the French stream at the University of Ottawa. He is deeply passionate about health equity and supporting underserved communities, with a particular focus on youth and child well-being. Meena’s commitment to community service includes volunteering at Beacon Heights Retirement Residence, supporting homeless outreach initiatives in downtown Ottawa, and tutoring local immigrant youth. Outside of his academic and community work, he plays for the Gee-Gees varsity soccer team, enjoys staying active at the gym, is involved in his church community, and values spending time with family and friends.

Keanna Woidak

Dr. Eunjung Na

Dr. Na is a Research Associate at CanFos Lab at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute. She received her PhD in Rehabilitation Sciences from the University of Ottawa and is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship in Rehabilitation Science at the McMaster University. She has experience working with large health datasets, retrospective chart reviews, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and community-engaged research. In her current role, she plays a key role in data management and provides critical research support across multidisciplinary projects.

Adam Saal

Adam is from Pembroke, ON, and currently a fourth-year medical student at the university of Ottawa. His research background is in molecular medicine and cell biology, but he is excited to be working on impactful, big picture questions to benefit the health of Canadian children. In his free time, he enjoys running and playing guitar.

Holly Yeadon

Holly is a research student entering her second year of the Life Sciences program at Queen’s University. She is passionate about child health and is particularly interested in how early life experiences shape long-term well-being. She volunteers at Perley Health, a long-term care home for seniors, and with the CHEO Foundation, where she enjoys being part of efforts that make a positive difference in the community. Outside of her academic and volunteer commitments, she enjoys reading, going to the gym, and spending time with friends and family.
